Liverpool Informed Arne Slot About His Future After Forest Loss

Liverpool have reportedly been informed that a critical decision regarding Arne Slot’s future must be made following their humiliating defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Premier League returned on Saturday after a week-long break for the final 2026 World Cup qualifiers. After Chelsea’s controversial 2-0 victory over Burnley in the early kickoff, Liverpool had an opportunity to ease some of the mounting pressure with a home fixture against Forest. Instead, the Reds suffered a 3-0 defeat to Sean Dyche’s side, intensifying doubts over the title-winning manager’s position.

The loss leaves Liverpool 11th in the Premier League table, perilously close to the relegation zone, while last season’s rivals Arsenal sit atop the standings. Across all competitions, the Reds have now lost eight of their last 11 matches and five of their last six league games, prompting many supporters to call for Slot’s dismissal.

Despite the slump, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes the Dutch manager still has earned enough goodwill to retain his role for now. “Liverpool need to be patient. Arne Slot deserves that after last year,” said Redknapp, who spent 11 years at the club. He also highlighted the impact of Diogo Jota’s tragic passing and the challenges of integrating summer signings as possible factors behind Liverpool’s struggles.

Slot himself accepted full responsibility for the defeat, shielding his players from blame. “If things go well or go badly, it’s always my responsibility,” he said. “We couldn’t create enough opportunities. I tried to make adjustments, but they didn’t work. We weren’t able to score.”

He added: “We’re in a very difficult spell. In a few days, we play in the Champions League, and we have to keep our heads up, work incredibly hard, and try to turn things around. We have quality players, and it’s my job to get the best out of them. I’m not doing that at the moment, and that’s why I take full responsibility.”
