“Sky reporter issues new Konate update as Liverpool defender pushes back against recent rumours”

Ibrahima Konate has just eight months left on his Liverpool contract, and uncertainty continues to grow over whether he’ll still be at Anfield next year. Reports last week (via CaughtOffside) claimed the 26-year-old had been given a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ contract offer, though Konate denied that and suggested he’d reveal his decision ‘very soon’.

Sky reporter issues fresh update
On Monday, European football journalist Sacha Tavolieri shared new information which appears to conflict with Konate’s own comments. According to his report (via skysport.ch), Liverpool have tabled a ‘final and very generous’ offer that would make the defender one of the club’s top earners.

Tavolieri also stated that Konate has ‘always dreamed’ of playing for Real Madrid, and that a decision on his future should come ‘in the next few weeks’.

Clarity needed soon
Several outlets claim Liverpool have already offered an extension—something Konate publicly denies—so at least one side of the story is clearly inaccurate. What is certain is that his current deal expires next June, which means he can negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs from January.

Konate recently said his representatives are “in discussions with Liverpool” and that he’ll be able to “announce” his decision soon, suggesting he may prefer to stay if the terms are right.

Despite facing criticism for his form this season, the French defender remains a top performer at his peak, and Liverpool’s limited depth at centre-back makes him an important figure.

For now, signs point to his situation being settled in the near future. Liverpool will hope the speculation ends soon so the focus can return to his performances on the pitch.
