Liverpool kick-start contract talks in a major push to block Real Madrid’s swoop for their star man.

Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has recently been linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Reds are determined to keep hold of one of their standout performers. The 25-year-old has been brilliant this season, attracting interest from the Spanish giants, yet Liverpool have already begun early talks over a new contract to secure his long-term future.

The club knows they must keep their top talents if they want to compete at the highest level, and Szoboszlai has become one of the first names on Arne Slot’s teamsheet. Losing him would be a massive setback, so Liverpool are pushing to tie him down to a long-term deal as soon as possible. Whether the Hungarian midfielder is ready to fully commit remains to be seen.

Speaking to Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke said: “He’s probably been Liverpool’s most consistent performer this season and a key figure for Arne Slot. It’s no surprise other clubs are circling, with Real Madrid among them. But I don’t see Liverpool entertaining any offers.

“They want to build their future around him. He’s contracted until 2028, and talks have already started to reward him for his impressive form. He’s a mainstay in the side.”

Szoboszlai is clearly enjoying life at Anfield, has already lifted major trophies, and has no real reason to push for an exit—making any move this summer highly unlikely.
