Liverpool have begun preliminary discussions with their star player in an effort to derail Real Madrid’s transfer ambitions.

Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has recently been linked with a potential switch to Real Madrid.

The 25-year-old has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers this season, attracting interest from the Spanish giants. Even so, Liverpool have no plans to let him go and are instead pushing to secure his long-term future. Initial discussions over a new contract are already underway, and both sides will now see whether an agreement can be reached.

Liverpool must keep Szoboszlai
If the Reds want to remain competitive at the top level, keeping their best players is essential. Szoboszlai is one of the first names on Arne Slot’s teamsheet, and losing him would be a major setback. Liverpool are keen to secure a long-term commitment from the Hungarian midfielder, though it remains unclear whether he is ready to fully commit just yet.

Speaking to Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke said:
“Szoboszlai has probably been Liverpool’s most consistent performer this season. He’s stepped up massively and become a crucial part of Arne Slot’s squad.

“It’s no surprise other clubs are showing interest. Real Madrid have been linked in the Spanish press, but I don’t see Liverpool entertaining any offers.

“They want to build the future of the team around him. He’s under contract until 2028, and reports suggest Liverpool have opened talks to reward him for his excellent form.

“He’s a guaranteed starter for them right now.”

Szoboszlai is clearly enjoying life at Anfield, having become a key figure for the club and already winning major silverware. He has little incentive to leave, and there is no indication that he is looking to force a move away.
