Liverpool’s Midfield Rock Faces Loyalty Test as European Giants Circle with Irresistible Offers

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has reportedly caught the eye of both Manchester City and Real Madrid, according to Diario AS. The two European powerhouses are said to be closely monitoring the Hungarian’s situation at Anfield amid growing uncertainty over his long-term future.

Since arriving from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 for around £60 million, the 25-year-old has quickly become one of Arne Slot’s most influential players. So far this season, Szoboszlai has registered six goal contributions in 15 appearances, underlining his status as one of Europe’s most dynamic and versatile midfielders. Slot has even trusted him in the right-back role during injury crises involving Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley.

With top clubs circling, Liverpool are now prioritising a new contract for Szoboszlai, whose current deal runs until 2028. The club are reportedly considering a significant pay rise from his current €135,000 per week to secure his commitment and fend off interest.

Both Manchester City and Real Madrid have been impressed by the Hungarian’s performances. City admire his athleticism and adaptability, while Madrid view him as part of their midfield evolution alongside Jude Bellingham, seeking a player capable of excelling in both attacking and deeper roles.

Though neither club is expected to make an imminent move, they are closely tracking developments. Having already lost key figures like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Luis Díaz this year, Liverpool are determined not to lose another crucial player — especially to direct rivals like Manchester City.
