“Roberto Firmino has made a firm claim that Jurgen Klopp is set to return to football management.”

Roberto Firmino has shared an eye-catching prediction about his former Liverpool boss, Jürgen Klopp.

 

It’s now a year and a half since the German ended his nine-year spell at Anfield, stepping away from the touchline for a break before later taking up his new position as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer. Klopp coached Firmino for nearly his entire eight-year stay on Merseyside, and the Al-Sadd forward believes his old manager will eventually return to club football.

 

Speaking to Flashscore, the 34-year-old looked back fondly on his time with Klopp, expressing pride and gratitude for their journey together – and suggested that the former Liverpool manager’s story in the dugout isn’t over.

 

> “He was the best manager I’ve ever had. The memories are incredible. I’m grateful to have worked with him. I learnt so much and I believe I gave him what he expected of me. He’s taking a break now, but I think he’ll return to club coaching. Whether that’s Liverpool… only he knows.”

 

 

 

His comments come just weeks after Klopp himself refused to completely rule out a possible Anfield return one day, although he admitted he doesn’t miss the day-to-day stress of management.

 

When Klopp shocked the football world by announcing his Liverpool exit in 2024, he admitted he was “running out of energy” after more than 23 years of almost uninterrupted management.

 

Given Firmino’s special relationship with Klopp – no player has featured more times under him than the Brazilian’s 355 appearances – his belief that the 58-year-old will manage again carries genuine weight.

 

A future return to coaching can’t be dismissed, but it’s expected Klopp would only do so if the circumstances were perfect. With his record, he can afford to wait for the right moment rather than accept just any role.

 

Whoever eventually convinces him back into management will inherit a football mastermind with plenty still to give. Until then, Liverpool fans can take comfort knowing the club appointed a high-calibre successor in Arne Slot to continue building on Klopp’s legacy.
