Bobby Firmino has shared an interesting prediction about his former Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp.
It’s now a year and a half since Klopp ended nearly ten years in charge at Anfield, stepped away from coaching, and later accepted a new position as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer. Firmino, who played under Klopp for almost his entire eight-year spell on Merseyside, believes the German won’t stay away from club coaching forever.
Firmino expects Klopp to manage again
Speaking to Flashscore, the 34-year-old forward reflected fondly on his time with Klopp and suggested the former Liverpool boss could one day return to the dugout.
“He was the best manager I ever had,” Firmino said. “I have incredible memories and I’m grateful for everything I learned from him. I think he’s just taking a break. I believe he’ll manage a club again. Whether that’s Liverpool, only he can decide.”
Could Klopp return to club management?
Recently, Klopp refused to rule out returning to Liverpool someday, though admitted he doesn’t miss the daily pressure of management. When announcing his departure in 2024, he revealed he was exhausted after almost 23 years of continuous coaching.
Firmino knows Klopp better than nearly anyone in football — he played more games under him than any other player (355) — so his belief that Klopp will coach again carries weight.
We can’t completely rule out a comeback. Klopp has the résumé and status to choose his next step carefully and won’t jump into any random job.
For now, the German still has plenty left to offer the sport, and Liverpool appear well set with Arne Slot continuing the strong legacy he inherited.
