Liverpool fans will be shocked to see where their 2020 title winner has resurfaced while seeking a new club.

A familiar face from Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League-winning squad has quietly returned to England in search of a new club — and where he’s been spotted training will certainly raise eyebrows among Reds supporters.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, signed by Jurgen Klopp in 2017 during the manager’s third season at Anfield, enjoyed a trophy-laden six-year spell with Liverpool. During that period, he became a Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup winner, and also lifted both domestic cups.

After his Anfield exit in 2023, the midfielder spent two seasons at Besiktas. However, a push to reduce his salary this summer led to his release in August, leaving him without a club since.

Now, the former Liverpool star has resurfaced in England — but not at the club where he lifted the Premier League title. Footage shared by Sky Sports (via GOAL) shows the 32-year-old training with Arsenal’s Under-21 squad. Oxlade-Chamberlain, who left the Gunners for Liverpool in 2017, has returned to London to keep fit while weighing up his next move.

Seeing a former Liverpool player training with one of the club’s fiercest rivals may seem unusual, but Ox spent six years at both Arsenal and Liverpool. Still, a second spell at the Emirates appears unlikely, unless it mirrors the kind of role Jay Spearing holds at Liverpool — training with the youth squad as an overage player while also coaching within the academy.

Oxlade-Chamberlain delivered several standout moments for Liverpool, including his iconic Champions League thunderbolt against Manchester City and his long-range strike in the 5-5 Carabao Cup thriller versus Arsenal in 2019.

At 32, his career is far from over, and many will watch with interest to see where he lands next. Regardless of his future destination, his impact during the Klopp era ensures he will always be greeted with warmth on Merseyside.
