“England Defender’s Dream: Liverpool Still the Target”

Liverpool are reportedly still in the running to sign Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi as he approaches the final months of his contract.

The England international has impressed at Selhurst Park but is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, opening up a competitive race for his signature. According to Graeme Bailey via TBR Football, clubs like Manchester United could challenge Liverpool for the deal, making this a completely fresh transfer scenario after the Reds missed out on him during the summer.

Tottenham have also been mentioned as potential frontrunners for Guehi, yet Indy Kaila reports that the defender remains keen on joining Liverpool. The move would make sense for the Reds, who have Ibrahima Konaté nearing the end of his contract and Virgil van Dijk aging, highlighting the need for reinforcements in central defence.

Guehi could also fit Manchester United’s system, which often employs a back three and could benefit from alternatives to Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, especially given Lisandro Martinez’s injury history. Former United striker Louis Saha recently praised Guehi in the Manchester Evening News, urging his old club to pursue him ahead of Liverpool.

“Marc Guehi is an exceptional player and a natural leader,” Saha said. “If Manchester United can outbid Liverpool, even by £20 million, they should. He’s consistent, reliable, communicates well, and will undoubtedly feature in top-level teams and big games in the future.”
