Despite interest from Manchester United and Tottenham, the “top player” still has his sights set on Liverpool.

Liverpool are still believed to be in pole position to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi as his contract approaches its final stages.

The England defender has impressed during his time at Selhurst Park, but with his deal expiring at the end of the season, he’s set to become a free agent. That situation has opened the door to multiple clubs, with Graeme Bailey telling TBR Football that Manchester United could challenge Liverpool for his signature, especially with this now seen as a fresh transfer scenario after the Reds failed to land him in the summer.

There have also been suggestions that Tottenham are currently the front-runners, but according to a report from Indy Kaila, Guehi still prefers a move to Liverpool.

What’s next for Marc Guehi?
Guehi could be a perfect fit at Anfield, particularly with Ibrahima Konaté nearing the end of his contract and Virgil van Dijk entering the latter stages of his career.

However, he would also make sense for Manchester United, who often play with a back three and may look for alternatives to Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt, while Lisandro Martínez has struggled with recurring injuries. Former United forward Louis Saha recently spoke to the Manchester Evening News, praising Guehi and encouraging his former club to beat Liverpool to the signing.

“Marc Guehi is an outstanding defender and a leader. I love the way he plays,” Saha said.
He added that if United need to pay significantly above his value—even £20 million more—they should do it.
“He’s consistent, dependable, communicates well, and provides real assurance at the back. He’s destined to play for a top club competing for major honours.”
