Oliver Glasner Confirms Key Crystal Palace Injury Ahead of Liverpool Clash

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner faces a setback ahead of their Carabao Cup showdown with Liverpool tomorrow night, as he confirmed that key defender Chris Richards will miss the trip to Anfield.

 

The Eagles head into the clash aiming to deepen Liverpool’s woes after Arne Slot’s side suffered a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat against Brentford last weekend. Interestingly, it was Palace who sparked Liverpool’s poor league form earlier this month with a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park.

 

Glasner, who led Palace to FA Cup glory last season, revealed that Richards will sit out due to a calf problem.

 

> “We’ve just one issue — Chris Richards has a small problem with his calf, so he won’t travel to Liverpool,” Glasner said, as quoted by Liverpool.com.

“Everyone else is fine and has recovered well. The team showed great energy at the Emirates, pushing for an equalizer until the end, so things are looking positive.”

 

 

 

Following their narrow 1-0 loss to Arsenal, Palace will look to bounce back, with Jean-Philippe Mateta, Ismaila Sarr, and Adam Wharton all capable of testing Liverpool’s fragile defence.

 

The Reds have failed to keep a clean sheet since mid-September, and their defensive struggles continue. Van Dijk and Konaté appear unsettled at the back, while Slot still battles to find balance in his full-back positions — Milos Kerkez has struggled to impress since joining from Bournemouth, and Jeremie Frimpong remains sidelined through injury.

 

With pressure mounting, Slot may view the Carabao Cup as a crucial chance to steady Liverpool’s season and bring home some much-needed silverware.
