Despite Liverpool’s disastrous form over the past month, Arne Slot continues to enjoy the full support of the club’s hierarchy.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Slot remains firmly backed even after the Reds suffered a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat last weekend, dropping to seventh place and seven points behind leaders Arsenal. The Dutch manager has faced numerous challenges, from concerns over the “body language” of senior players to rumors of disagreements among teammates.
Romano, on his YouTube channel, emphasized that the Liverpool leadership is confident Slot can navigate the team out of this slump, and that there is no friction behind the scenes that would warrant a change in management.
He said: “Internally, the Liverpool hierarchy—including ownership—fully trusts Arne Slot. They are convinced he is the right manager to handle this situation.
“While the season has started poorly, the club believes things will improve. Adjusting the squad, integrating new signings, and restoring last season’s attitude will take time, but Liverpool have complete faith in Slot.
“Communication between the directors, management, and Slot is excellent. There are no issues, no bad relationships, and no conflicts between the players and the manager. Everything is under control. The challenges are tactical and mental, but there is total trust in Slot.”
Slot has faced criticism over team selections, tactics, and substitutions in recent weeks, but any suggestion that he is at risk of losing his job is baseless. His Premier League title last season remains a major achievement, and he has also been praised for handling difficult situations at Anfield, including managing the contract matters of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, as well as supporting the squad through the grief following Diogo Jota’s death.
Although the past month has been tough, three-quarters of the season remain for Liverpool to turn things around and challenge for back-to-back league titles. Football fortunes can change quickly—as seen with Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, who went from near-dismissal to a Champions League push—which shows Slot is fully capable of steering Liverpool out of their current slump.
