Liverpool manager Arne Slot has shared an injury update on Alexander Isak and Jeremie Frimpong — and the news isn’t encouraging.
Slot admitted he’s unsure about the extent of Isak’s issue after the Swedish striker was forced off at half-time during the 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt with a groin injury. The Liverpool boss explained that managing Isak’s fitness has been tricky since the forward missed three months of action in the summer.
Isak, who went on strike at Newcastle to force his move to Liverpool, now seems to be feeling the effects of not having a proper pre-season.
As for Frimpong, Slot revealed that the Dutch full-back’s situation “doesn’t look great” and that he’s expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
Speaking to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Slot acknowledged that these setbacks are far from ideal for Liverpool, especially during a period of inconsistent form despite their big win in Germany.
With a packed fixture list and recent defensive struggles, the Reds can hardly afford to lose key players. Isak’s potential absence would be a particular blow, as he was expected to make a major impact after joining this summer. Frimpong, meanwhile, still needs game time to settle in and prove himself as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement.
