Hugo Ekitike marked his return to Eintracht Frankfurt in style, scoring Liverpool’s first goal in their dominant 5-1 win at Deutsche Bank Park. Out of respect for his former side, the 23-year-old chose not to celebrate his goal and received warm applause from the home crowd when he was substituted with just over 15 minutes left to play.

The forward delivered a standout performance that fully justified Arne Slot’s decision to start him, impressing with both his goal and all-around play.
According to Sofascore, Ekitike misplaced just two passes, won five of seven duels, completed two of three dribbles, and hit the target twice, constantly troubling Frankfurt’s defense. With Alexander Isak substituted at half-time due to a groin issue, Ekitike looks nailed on to start against Brentford this weekend.
His display in Frankfurt was a powerful statement — a reminder to his former club of his quality and proof that he’s quickly becoming a fan favorite at Liverpool.
