Liverpool are considering a January move for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo to provide cover for Mohamed Salah and inject extra pace and power on the right flank.
A key factor is that Ghana failed to qualify for AFCON, meaning Semenyo will remain available while Salah leads Egypt at the tournament—a detail that has placed him high on Arne Slot’s shortlist.
There will be competition, though. Manchester United and Tottenham monitored the player in the summer, while Chelsea have also been linked. His new contract, signed in July, reportedly includes a £75m release clause. Whether Liverpool decide to trigger it or negotiate a structured payment could determine how quickly a deal progresses.
Tactically, the move fits well. Semenyo brings direct running, pressing intensity, and versatility across the front line—qualities that explain why Liverpool view him as someone capable of challenging Salah now and contributing long-term.
Bournemouth are unlikely to sell easily in mid-season after rejecting previous offers, but Liverpool’s strong relationship with the club following the Milos Kerkez deal, coupled with the player’s chance to fight for major trophies, could help move negotiations forward. If the finances align, Semenyo could be the ideal solution to maintain Liverpool’s right-wing threat during AFCON and strengthen their attack afterward.
