Liverpool boss hints at Isak’s availability for Manchester United clash
Liverpool have received a fresh update on their record signing ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown at Anfield.
During his pre-Manchester United press conference at the AXA Training Centre, Arne Slot provided insight into Alexander Isak’s fitness.
“He’s had five or six weeks of pre-season, which is quite normal,” Slot explained. “Physically, he’s now close to full fitness, and we can properly assess him from here.”
The manager added, “I understand how this game works — people expect goals right away. But I believe his pre-season is now complete. He’s featured for 70 to 80 minutes in a few matches, so we’ll see how he performs next.”
Isak himself sounded optimistic while on international duty with Sweden last week, confirming his readiness:
“I’ll be ready to play 90 minutes tomorrow if needed,” he said. “It’s been a month since the last international break, and I’ve had more playing time since then. I feel in a much stronger position now.”
Although Sweden suffered a disappointing defeat to Kosovo, the positive takeaway was the striker’s full fitness.
Liverpool fans will be hopeful the £125m forward can now kick on and make a decisive impact, with goals vital in this early title defence.
Slot’s comments hinted that Isak could start against United, though Hugo Ekitike’s push for minutes offers further attacking depth.
With Florian Wirtz also regaining sharpness behind the front line, Liverpool’s new attacking system continues to take shape under Slot.
After weeks of dedicated fitness work, the 26-year-old Swede now looks set to be fully unleashed at Anf
