Arne Slot delivers major Liverpool injury setback ahead of Manchester United showdown
Liverpool will have to make a crucial adjustment for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United, as Arne Slot has confirmed that Alisson Becker will miss the game at Anfield.
Arne Slot provides full Liverpool injury update
During his pre-match press conference at the AXA Training Centre, Slot shared the latest on Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate, and Alisson ahead of the 4:30pm kickoff.
“Ryan is completely fit, although we still have two more training sessions to go,” said the manager. “Ibou has returned, started his sessions again, and is expected to train fully today. The third one is Alisson — he’s not training with us, so he’s out.”
That means Liverpool receive a double boost in midfield and defence, but suffer a major blow in goal.
Alisson out – but Gravenberch and Konate return
Slot further confirmed that Alisson will not only miss the United match but also next week’s fixture.
“He will not play this weekend and also not next week,” Slot added.
With the Brazilian ruled out, summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili will continue in goal after impressing in his early appearances since joining from Valencia.
Gravenberch’s availability is a welcome boost following concerns over the knock he picked up on international duty, while Konate’s recovery provides extra strength at the back — a key factor given United’s attacking threats down the flanks.
Despite Alisson’s absence, Liverpool’s depth and adaptability under Slot will once again be tested as they aim to maintain momentum in their Premier League title defence. All eyes will be on how the Reds handle another big occasion without their world-class goalkeeper.
