Liverpool’s Post About Trent Alexander-Arnold Triggers Fan Backlash

Liverpool supporters have expressed their displeasure with the club after noticing a recent social media post about Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The England international’s move from boyhood club Liverpool to Real Madrid was one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer. Despite having just a month left on his contract, Real Madrid paid around £8.4 million to sign him early ahead of the Club World Cup.

Since his departure, the 27-year-old has fallen out of favour with many Liverpool fans, who believe he handled his exit poorly. So when the club’s official account shared a birthday message for Alexander-Arnold — including a photo of him lifting the league title last season — many supporters were upset.

Comments quickly flooded in, with one fan saying, “I get the feeling this won’t go down well with most people,” while another joked, “This tweet is worse than our three straight defeats last week.”

Not everyone was critical, though — a few fans showed sympathy, with one writing, “Happy birthday to Trent. He’s had a tough time in Madrid, I actually feel sorry for him,” and another adding, “Happy birthday to the smoothest passer of the ball. Nobody could ping it like Trent.”

Alexander-Arnold, who has only made five appearances under new Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso, will have a chance to mend his relationship with Liverpool fans when Real Madrid visit Anfield for a Champions League clash on November 3.
