“They’re in trouble…” – Jamie Redknapp singles out two Liverpool players after painful loss

Jamie Redknapp commented after Liverpool’s loss to Chelsea on Saturday evening that two of the Reds’ players are creating “problems” for Arne Slot’s team.

The reigning Premier League champions suffered their third defeat in eight days, falling to a stoppage-time goal from Estevao at Stamford Bridge. Their troubles deepened as Andy Robertson limped off at full-time. Of the four defenders who started for Liverpool against Enzo Maresca’s side, three were substituted before the 56th minute—Conor Bradley was taken off at half-time, while Ibrahima Konate and Milos Kerkez were replaced early in the second half.

Redknapp: Full-back positions a major concern for Liverpool
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Redknapp identified Liverpool’s full-back positions as key areas of concern, adding that the team is feeling the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold from last season.

“They’ve got issues at full-back,” Redknapp said. “They’re missing Trent, and since the Burnley game, they’ve not had a consistent right-back. Bradley had a difficult 45 minutes, and Kerkez hasn’t quite adapted yet—the pressure of playing for Bournemouth isn’t the same.
There are problems all over the pitch, but especially at full-back, with Robertson’s injury adding to the woes. The international break could be a good opportunity to regroup.”

Bradley and Kerkez underperformed against Chelsea
At just 22 and 21, Bradley and Kerkez are still developing, but neither impressed against Chelsea.

Bradley struggled in the first half against Alejandro Garnacho and was on a yellow card when he was taken off, though the winger’s attempts to get him sent off were unsporting.

Kerkez, meanwhile, made poor choices—opting to square the ball instead of shooting and misplacing a pass to Mo Salah in a promising attack. He was substituted early, just as he was against Burnley last month.

Although Kerkez has been a regular starter this season, he hasn’t shown the same form he displayed at Bournemouth. On the opposite flank, Slot has rotated between Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, and Dominik Szoboszlai, showing the instability in those positions.

As Redknapp suggested, the upcoming international break offers Arne Slot a vital chance to reset and reassess how to get the struggling champions back on track when domestic action resumes later in October.
