Premier League contenders Arsenal have reportedly secured an agreement to sign a highly promising young attacker, even with the January transfer window still months away.
While Arsenal’s main focus for the 2025–26 season remains on achieving success in both the Premier League and the Champions League, the club is also investing in its long-term future.
The Gunners have confirmed the acquisition of Victor Ozhianvuna, a talented 16-year-old forward from Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland. Ozhianvuna is set to officially join Arsenal in January 2027, once he turns 18.
According to the club’s statement, the teenage striker has already made his mark at senior level, appearing 16 times for Shamrock Rovers across all competitions since his debut earlier this year.
In February, he became the second-youngest player ever to play in the UEFA Conference League, featuring as a substitute against Molde FK. He scored his first senior goal a few months later in an FAI Cup second-round match against Wexford FC.
Born in Tallaght, Ozhianvuna has represented Ireland at both Under-15 and Under-18 levels. Originally a wing-back, he has developed into a versatile player capable of performing in multiple positions.
Arsenal’s announcement expressed excitement about the move, stating:
> “Everyone at Arsenal is thrilled to welcome Victor to the club in the near future.”
The transfer remains subject to regulatory approval. This season, Ozhianvuna has been carefully managed by Shamrock Rovers, making 13 substitute appearances in the League of Ireland—equivalent to about two full matches—and is yet to score in league play.
This signing reflects Arsenal’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young talent. Manager Mikel Arteta continues to integrate youth prospects into the first-team setup while maintaining focus on immediate results.
The club’s current squad already features several players who joined during their teenage years, such as Max Dowman (15) and Cristhian Mosquera (21), alongside homegrown stars Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly, all of whom became senior team regulars as teenagers.
