Despite previously agreeing to join Liverpool, the target has informed his agent that he now wants to move to Real Madrid.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has been linked with a potential transfer away from the London-based club in recent months.

He nearly completed a move during the summer transfer window, having undergone a medical with Liverpool. However, the deal fell through at the last moment after Crystal Palace decided to cancel the transfer. They were unable to find a suitable replacement for the 25-year-old defender, leading them to call off the move to Liverpool.

Now, it appears Guehi is reconsidering a future transfer to Liverpool. The Premier League champions are expected to pursue him again when the January transfer window opens. However, according to a report from The Mirror, Guehi has told his agent that he prefers to join Real Madrid instead.

The defender seems interested in moving to the Spanish giants on a free transfer. Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their defensive options, and the England international would be a valuable addition to their squad. It’s understandable that Guehi would be attracted to Real Madrid, given their reputation as one of the biggest clubs worldwide—an opportunity that many players would find hard to resist.

This development is a significant setback for Liverpool in their pursuit of Guehi. It remains to be seen whether they will target other players. Liverpool need to bolster their defense in the upcoming transfer windows. With Virgil van Dijk entering the later stages of his career, Ibrahima Konate’s contract expiring in 2026, and Joe Gomez’s fitness concerns, the Reds require dependable defensive reinforcements.

Guehi would have been an excellent signing for Liverpool.
